03/26/2003 Entry: "Movie review: Catch Me If You Can"

Leonardo DiCaprio becomes a cheque forger, or "paper hanger" for those in the know (ha. ha.). Tom Hanks is an FBI agent deperate to catch him. Hilarity ensues.

Knock knock.

Who's there?

Go fuck yourself.

I still can't decide whether this is funny or not. Anyways, as other reviews have stated, Spielburg's movie drips with sentimentality, and every action of the protaganist has to be explained by the pain he suffers when his parents divorce at his tender age of 16.

I'm not sure if I should be morally opposed to letting Spielberg fuck with my emotions. He has become an industry bigwig, the same industry that is slowly crippling technology with artificial copyright barriers.

I actually enjoyed watching Minority Report about a month ago, simply because the portrayal of the future was very striking, and the doctor who did the eye replacements was so deliciously random and insane.

It was pure Spielburg action movie, dipped in a huge fucking vat of money to glossify it with the absolute best special effects that money can buy. When I realized this, I realized that Spielburg is actually cursed with a big budget.

His budget causes wannabe sophisticates such as myself to look down my nose at this mass-market drivel. The unfortunate part is that Spielburg still makes entertaining movies, no matter how juvenile.

I guess my point is to steal these movies instead of giving more money to the corporate opressors.

Did I spell opressors right? Anyways, Leonardo DiCaprio plays a slick, slick guy in this slick, slick movie, and it's entertaining. It even has a nice ending, what more could the family want?

Leonardo DiCaprio is surprising in his ability to go from sixteen year old boy to about twenty one or so. His mom's a bitch and his dad is a tragic figure played by Christopher Walken. I like Christopher Walken, but he isn't weird enough in this movie. His mom is still a bitch whore slut.

It must suck for your mom to be a bitch whore slut. French, also.

Solid three stars out of five for me on this one. Remember, don't pay for it.

It's a Spielberg, post modern. Does it 'feel' like a spielberg? I've really enjoyed AI (Despite being too long), Minority Report and Taken (mostly).

I enjoyed most of AI, the ending just totally ruined the movie for me.

Minority Report was cool through-out.

Yeah it should have ended with the boy underwater.

The alien stuff was cool though, it just didn't fit in..
